The Huerta Family
You may remember my beautiful friend Jennifer and her ADORABLE daughter Catalina from my first family shoot on the blog. It was an honor to be asked to do their spring portraits after doing their fall session just a few months ago! We had big plans a while back to do a pretty spring shoot, assuming we would have gorgeous blooms, warmer temperatures, with a lush, verdant backdrop in the early days of April. Mother nature had other plans. After one of the most unpredictable, sweet-mother-of-pearl-my-fingers-are-going-to-fall-off winters I've experienced in quite some time, spring has been slow to provide a respite.
We met at Algonkian Park in Sterling on Saturday evening, and my eyes lit up as I saw Jennifer hop out of the car in her spring colors (and BOMB lipstick- seriously, homegirl can rock some bright lipstick like I've never seen before...I digress). Catalina bounded out of the car shortly after, bright eyed and flashing her playful, mischievous smile that highlighted her her dimples she got from her Daddy, Oscar. Other than her Daddy's dimples, Catalina could be Jennifer's clone! You'll see what I mean below. :-)
The warmth of their comfort, love, and playfulness combined with their gorgeous spring attire was juxtaposed against a chilly, windy, cloudy afternoon. Somehow, in between shivers these three managed to rock out a really beautiful session. Though we plan to reconvene once the weather warms and more colorful foliage emerges, I'm loving the memories we captured while fighting the wind and cold. Enjoy! :-)
PS- Anyone with a shoot coming up, you may want to look to Catalina for posing inspiration! :-) This girl was running all over the place, pausing every two minutes or so to whip her head back/hair around to gaze at me, strike a pose, and wait for me to snap a few. She's roughly the same age as my little sister, but somehow leagues ahead of her in the modeling department. Loved it. ;-)
Jackets stayed on for this one, TOO COLD! See what I mean about that lipstick? Get it, girl! Oscar was rocking it out as well, loved the color of his shirt! Lookin suave, guys! Remember how I said Cata would pick out spots herself and wait for me to shoot? This is an example. Windy, but oh-so-adorable. Catalina is the ultimate Daddy's girl...can you tell? Jennifer and her mini-me! D'awwww... Last shot of the evening... Cata striking a "model pose" once more. ;-) Cheers, guys! See you again soon for a session where you aren't having to provide all the warmth for your photos! <3
