Preamble to the Predictable "Goals for the New Year" Post
Instead of the repressed sigh and exaggerated eye roll when the older generation speaks of time seemingly moving quicker as you grow older, unfortunately I now nod in solemn agreement. Until my mid twenties, it always seemed as if things were moving too slowly. I was in such a hurry for everything to happen all at once. Now...oh man. It has been an all too common occurrence for me to daydream about a magic pause button that just allowed me to stop for a moment and figure out just what I want to do with my life, now that it seems like I'm traveling at lightspeed (yep, that is supposed to be one word, star wars fans can holler atcha girl). I don't know that even that would help though, really. Who REALLY knows what they are supposed to be doing? Would there ever be enough time to figure it out? "They" say to follow your gut, but usually my gut just makes a lot of gurgling sounds and points me in the direction of the nearest cheeseburger.
In light of that, I have no idea whether or not I am going to pursue photography for the long run (don't worry cheeseburgers, I will always pursue you). I'm certainly in love with it at the moment. It may turn out to be a blip on the radar, or I may decide to completely change my path. I have learned that I am not alone in not knowing what the hell I'm doing, and while that uncertainty is a tad unnerving at times, life certainly seems a little bit fuller with some surprises, some unknowns. The way I see it, even if I fall flat on my face, at least I tried something new, I fought my guts out, and had some fun doing it. Maybe I'll get a sweet scar.
As for the upcoming year, I have compiled a list of goals I would like to achieve. Some may be a bit too ambitious, some may require me to sell an organ to afford, but you can believe I'm going to continue to HUSTLE. I'll bore you with my extensive game plan in a later post. Because photography blog posts are especially boring sans-photos, here's my brother Alex on a semi-recent mini-hiking trip to great falls.
